Christian Moueix, head of Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux, owns the Dominus estate in Napa Valley.  He chose the name “Dominus” because it means “lord of the estate” in Latin and reflects his commitment to steward his vineyard in California.  

Rick Small owns Woodward Canyon winery in Walla Walla.  Many claim his Artist Series is among the best cabernets to come out of the Columbia Valley.  This dinner will feature a comparison tasting from magnums of both the 2001 Dominus and 2001 Woodward Canyon Artist Series cabernet sauvignons.

Another comparison will be made between the 2001 Marilyn Merlot from Napa Valley and the 2001 Sineann Merlot from the Hillside Vineyard in the Columbia Valley.  In addition, we will taste the 2001 Raymond Reserve Cabernet from Napa, the 2001 Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel from Napa, and the 2001 Jordan Cabernet from Sonoma.

Manager Christopher Omoletski once again has kindly agreed to waive corkage for the WFSO. This should be a highly educational event. Our main courses will be smoked in their Chinese Wood Fired Oven (which can be traced back to the Han Dynasty, 206 B.C. to 20 A.D.) The natural smoke and heat is derived from a selection of seasoned woods. The meat is suspended from hooks and slowly cooked. This unique cooking method is recommended by the American Heart Association.
