Time: 6:30 pm Location: Seven Bridges Winery Hosts: Bill and Pat Kimmer Location: Seven Bridges Winery, 2303 N Harding Ave., Portland, Or 97227 Saturday, May 7th
One of our favorite winemakers, Bob Switzer of Seven Bridges will walk us through how the geographic origin and cooperage of barrels used in the wine making process is used to enhance certain characteristics of wine. We will taste a flight each of Chardonnay and Zinfandel. Each varietal will be from the same vineyard and made in the same manner. The only difference will be the types of barrels the wine is stored in. We will discover how different oaks bring out a different fruit profiles, tannins, and acidity of the wine. After tasting those wines, Bob will showcase some finished wines with different compositions of oak. Bob will also offer an extended tasting of released wines with a bonus taste of the yet to be released 2013 Cabernet Franc from Seven Hills vineyard in Walla Walla. Bob’s wines will be available for purchase at special event pricing. The event will be catered by the Kimmer Kitchen; we will pair the wines with entrees of Steelhead and Tri-Tip served with other culinary delights. |
